Day 28: book club

One of my absolute favorite parts of this #30DaysOnFire journey has been having the time and energy to do one of the things I love most, but never made time for before: reading.

The highlight of every year for me is my family's annual vacation to the beach. No matter where I am or what I'm doing in my life - when I was a busy college student or a bogged-down corporate woman - this one week was always the time I could relax, reset, and - most importantly - read. No distractions, just some SPF 50 and a pile of books. To me, paradise is sitting by the ocean, toes in the sand, with a big juicy page-turner. (Last year, I plowed through a new book every single day.)

Even though our yearly pilgrimage to the seaside hasn't happened yet this summer, I'm already well on my way to breaking last year's reading record. But the books I've been enjoying during #30DaysOnFire aren't my usual mystery thrillers or romantic comedies. (Don't worry Gillian Flynn and Liane Moriarty, I'm coming for you later!)

I made it a goal to read inspiring works of non-fiction by women whose souls I believe are truly on fire. Women I admire who are living fulfilled, creative lives.

Below, I've reviewed five of my favorite reads. There are so many more incredible books by inspiring authors I love (Gretchen Rubin, to name one!) but for the sake of your time - and mine - this small selection will have to do for now. Happy reading!
